Teen Fitness Tips

Your improved teen fitness is contingent on a few varaibles that must be addressed by you throughout your fitness journey.

1.The first area you must improve is your mental image of yourself.

If you can't see yourself... in your mind's eye... as the person you want to be, then you will never achieve the fitness goals or any other goal for that matter, you want. You must change your mental image first.

2. Another aspect of your fitness goals must address your eating habits at home and school. I have been amazed at the number of students who buy their lunch everyday from the vending machines. A quick drive-by the machines and one has a bag of hot cheetos and let's wash it down with a 20 oz. Coke. If they're not eating out of the machines , they are eating burgers and fries everyday. Does this sound familiar to you??

This diet of junk food on a consistent basis will definitely cause excessive weight gain as well as other health problems. So the second area you must change is your caloric intake on a daily basis.

I once told my students in class I was going to write a book about health and I would name it ... "EAT LESS,MOVE MORE"... essentially that is what you need to implement in your own life. That initial idea turned into an instructional strength and conditioning manual called "Xtreme Teen Success".

3. The third area of focus needs to be on physical exercise. You must begin to move your body. When I was younger, I worked as a fitness trainer... I remember having a conversation with my boss at the time, we were discussing some of the best exercises people can do to stay in shape.

I told him I thought deadlifts and squats were excellent movements to burn fat and strengthen the entire body. He agreed ... though he did add... "you know, actually the best exercise one can do for their overall health and conditioning is the one they will consistently do!"

I truly believe he was right... you must find an exercise program that you can and will do for the long haul. I'm talking about something that becomes a daily habit ... something that becomes "what you do."

I hope you begin your journey to improved teen fitness by addressing and changing each of these areas in your own life. If you stay consistent... anything is possible.
